Based on the recommendation of Cammy on my New Places to Review post, Charley and I hit up Korean Hot Stone Grill last week. And it was good! I’ve driven by the place a hundred times on my way to Sonic Happy Hour, but never thought much about what kinds of food they serve. That part of Wichita has tons of restaurants, but honestly? None of them are fantastic. Well, now I’m going to want to eat Korean food everyday for lunch!

Bento box = lotsa lovin’ for a lunch price

Well, I keep going to Yogurt Xplosion, and always forget to take pictures! I think mostly because I’m so excited to have frozen yogurt, and don’t want it to melt. But alas, I’ll give you my review. Obviously it’s good if I keep going back, especially since we have a lot of ice cream choices in the area: Dairy Queen, Braum’s Orange Leaf, and even Spangles or McDonald’s. All of which we (my co-workers) have hit, and hit more frequently as summer sets in.

I knew the setup of YX was going to be similar to Orange Leaf, which I like. I love the yogurt flavor choices and the ability to top as much or as little as you want. And I could tell from the outside of the building that it was going to be bright on the inside. What I didn’t expect was how friendly everyone was. They encouraged us to test the yogurt. And even have a guess your weight thing (weight of your yogurt, not yourself) where if you hit it spot on, your yogurt’s free. There are also picnic tables setup outside.

I love Japan Express. It’s so intense. It’s like Japanese fast food, I guess? I’m not sure. It’s not a drive through or anything, but you get fed fast, it’s delicious, and you usually get yelled at. What a rush! I ALWAYS order the same thing 1A, spicy. And baby eggrolls.

I’ve been amped about the new Noodles & Company since I saw the word “Noodles” on the sign on the front of the building. Will I eat anything with noodles? Absolutely. Does the word alone make me salivate? Embarrassingly so. But nonetheless, bring on the noodles!

Yes, please. A thousand times over!

I’m a sucker for advertisement… And since I’ve never LOVED Wendy’s fries, I decided I’d give their “natural cut fries with sea salt” a try.

First of all, let’s be clear here: No matter what you fry the fries in and what kind of salt you put on them, they’re NOT healthy. I’m not sure they’re marketing for health appeal, I think it’s more from a “real deal” perspective. And while these fries were leaps and bounds better than their old fries (unfortunately, this means I’ll want Wendy’s more often than just a random cheeseburger), they weren’t anything amazing. They were crunchy (which is an upgrade from their old soggy fries). And they were ironically overly salty (whereas I remember Wendy’s as the place that throws salt in your bag because their fries are so bland).¬† Let’s meet in the middle on the salt wagon, Wendy!

We’ll still throw in a packet of salt. But you won’t need it!

Overall, though, the fries were an upgrade from the old. And Wendy’s must know it, too, because they’ve flat out replaced the old fries with these newbies. They’re marketed as “naturally cut from a Russet potato with skins on.” I definitely didn’t think they tasted fresh cut and fried, but still. Upgrade.

I freaking love Orange Leaf. The concept is brilliant! I can choose the flavor of yogurt I want, the toppings I want, and (here’s the genius part) exactly HOW MUCH I want! Boom! Well, plus the flavors and toppings are delicious.

I’d like to dedicate this post to my nephew, Lukie.

If you’ve never eaten at Barn’rds, please call me. We’ll go together. I freaking LOVE this place. I’m not sure why I’ve waited so long to review it. You know how people rave about Arby’s? I do NOT like Arby’s. Occasionally I’ll think I crave their curly fries and Arby’s sauce, only to eat it and remember their fries have a funny taste (almost like dirty grease?). Sure they’re crunchy and all the other things good fries should be. And don’t even get me started on Arby’s “wonderful” roast beef sandwiches. I’ve tried them. Several times. I used to assume I was just getting an odd bad sandwich. But, nope, they really just aren’t that good. Go to Barn’rds and you’ll know what a good roast beef sandwich is. I PROMISE.

I’m salivating looking at this little guy.
