I know I’ve been MIA. I think I’ve already said that I moved to the west side of town and have hit up a few restaurants, but nothing’s really caught my fancy enough to think about it after I left. And I decided in this economy, if I can’t say anything nice, I’m not saying anything at all. If I had frequented a place and the service/food was consistently not great, then I’d feel compelled to say something negative. But considering I’m eating out very little these days, if it wasn’t great the first time, it probably won’t get a vote to return.

That said, I’m here with some YUMMY news! And that news is Wasabi! If you haven’t been, go. No, seriously. Go! OK, you’re busy and you really just want to read this post. After all, you’re already here. May as well finish out the details. I can relate. I’m a data gatherer, too.

Dear Love Roll- I love you. Love-Kelly

Based on the recommendation of Cammy on my New Places to Review post, Charley and I hit up Korean Hot Stone Grill last week. And it was good! I’ve driven by the place a hundred times on my way to Sonic Happy Hour, but never thought much about what kinds of food they serve. That part of Wichita has tons of restaurants, but honestly? None of them are fantastic. Well, now I’m going to want to eat Korean food everyday for lunch!

I love Japan Express. It’s so intense. It’s like Japanese fast food, I guess? I’m not sure. It’s not a drive through or anything, but you get fed fast, it’s delicious, and you usually get yelled at. What a rush! I ALWAYS order the same thing 1A, spicy. And baby eggrolls.

I reviewed Po Boy Pizza back in August. I gave rave reviews, and then continued to slap myself for not realizing how awesome they are before uprooting myself to become a Westsider. In the meantime, the house sale has become a huge mess, and I’ve frequented Po Boy as a homage to what soon will be “remember when” days.

What could be wrong when everything looks SO RIGHT?

For all you Chick-fil-A fanatics out there who don’t drive down Rock everyday, you’ll be happy to know they’ve razed the gas station formerly in the spot rumored to be the new restaurant. I have no idea when it will be done, but progress is always comforting.

Eat mor chikin.

I’ve eaten at so many good places recently. I’ve decided I’m giving up ALL franchise restaurants, unless I’m meeting someone for a birthday (in which case it would be rude to say I’m NOT eating somewhere specific). So if I have the say-so, it’s all local establishments for me. And preferably ones I haven’t ever tried. Why? Because of places like Sport Burger. I can’t believe I’ve lived in southeast Wichita for eight years, and have never tried this place. Scratch that, I’m glad I haven’t. I love burgers. I’m not an expert or anything, but I know what I like. And I like this place!

We hit up Thai Tradition last night, and I forgot to take pictures. Mostly because I was so excited to eat, I think. But this place needs no pictures. If you’ve never been, go. If you’ve never had Thai food and are intimated, go and get the Pad Thai. Better yet, go at lunch, get the Pad Thai (which at lunch comes with an egg roll and one crab rangoon) and the hot and sour soup. You won’t be disappointed. If you don’t like spicy, get the Pad Thai mild (when they ask if you want spicy, say no). If you like spice you have the selection of medium, hot, or chef hot. I am a spicy-lover. I put Dave’s Insanity Sauce in almost everything. I normally order medium then ask for the spice rack and add more spices, if I need it. I’m always afraid if I go hot I won’t get to enjoy the flavor of the dish as much. However, that said, next time I’ll probably go hot, because the last three times I’ve added a considerable amount of extra spices. Another good choice are the Drunken Noodles.

Go. Be with God. Er, Thai food. Same thing.
